Estância Internacional Puraquequara – we are a school for missionary children in the Amazon of Brazil under the governance of Missão Novas Tribos do Brasil (MNTB). Our purpose is to assist missionaries with MNTB (and its Global Partners) in reaching tribal people for Jesus Christ by providing a sound academic education for the missionaries’ children in a school and dorm environment that actively encourages the students’ whole development and prepares them for a life of service to the Lord Jesus Christ, motivated by love for Him.

Founded in 1958, Estância Internacional Puraquequara (also known simply as PQQ) began as a grades 1-8 school for the children of expatriate missionaries to Brazil with New Tribes Mission. After three years (in 1961), the high school curriculum was added, and children from other mission agencies were also accepted. In 1963 PQQ held its first high school graduation.

In the latter 1980s, visas for new expatriate missionaries to Brazil were becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This gradually affected PQQ, causing a reduction in the student body enrollment and making it more challenging to gain the staff that we needed.

Even so, throughout the 1990s and into the new century, PQQ has continued to provide a high-quality education and numerous opportunities for growth among our students, including reaching out into neighboring communities to share God’s love and His Word with them.
